Transmedicalists and Exclus are not a monolith, meaning that not every person with these views will agree with all that is stated on this Carrd.

Most opinions listed within this Carrd are stated as facts, in order to keep everything clear. Just add "Transmedicalists/Truscum may believe (often or not)" in front of every sentence to keep it opinion-based. Keep in mind that the creator of this Carrd does respect the opinions of other people.

About Transmedicalism.

Below you will find a rough outline of what beliefs a Transmedicalist holds.

  • Transsexualism is a neurological condition characterized by the experience of incongruence between one's biological sex assigned at birth and their brain sex, otherwise known as Gender Dysphoria.

  • A transgender individual must possess the urge to medically transition.

About Pronouns.

Below you will find Transmedical views on pronouns.

About Neopronouns.

This section also includes arguments against Xenogenders.

  • The only purpose a pronoun serves is to indicate one's gender when communicating, rendering Neopronouns useless as they do not refer to gender, but rather a hobby, object, animal etc. that the user likes or feels a "connection" to.

  • They defeat the purpose of a pronoun. Pronouns exist to simplify English and for this reason, Neopronouns aren't real pronouns, but rather nicknames.

  • A common defence for Neopronouns is that "autistic people use them, because they don't understand gender". However, Neopronouns and Xenogenders were coined by a neurotypical.

  • All neurodivergent users within Transmedicalist circles agree that this argument is bogus, as they understand the concept of male and female just fine.

  • Neopronouns aren't related to gender expression, but rather a desire to be anti-culture and 'quirky' by fusing their interests, their likes, and their hobbies with their personal pronouns in an attempt to be unique, similar to what goths and punks have done in the past.

  • Neopronouns and Xenogenders are appropriating and trivialising real transsexual oppression. Neopronoun users typically regard it as transphobic for someone to not respect or support Neopronouns which is trivializing of real transphobia faced by genuine transsexuals on a daily basis.

  • Regarding something as trivial as not wanting to use neopronouns as transphobia not only taints the general image of the community, but feeds into and perpetuates stereotypes that paint trans people as just going through a phase that they will eventually grow out of. This makes it significantly harder for the community as a whole to be taken seriously.

About It/Its.

  • 'It' typically refers to non-sentient objects as well as non-human organisms. The 'it' pronoun is not used on humans under normal circumstances and thus is regarded as dehumanizing. The 'it' pronoun (in the context of the trans community) also has a prominent history of being used by individuals to degrade and assault trans people.

Pronouns = Gender.

  • Pronouns are gendered because they were made that way. They were made to replace proper nouns, and the easiest way was to have words that refer to someone’s gender and still know who they’re talking about.

  • If you call a trans man a she, you're misgendering him, because that pronoun in English is inherently gendering.

About being Transgender without dysphoria.

  • A core belief of Transmedicalism is and has always been that you need dysphoria to be trans (i.e. the feeling of discontent with one's natal sex).

  • Without any gender incongruence, there is no need for transitioning. At that point, people use it solely as an accessory, undermining the issues and struggles of real Transsexual individuals.
